Motorola and Google announce two new Google Photos features with the launch of the new razr

Overview

  • Motorola and Google unveil a new wardrobe feature in Google Photos that gives each user their own personalized digital closet. This feature, which will be available on Android devices in select regions later this summer, organizes items of clothing found within a user’s photo library to help create and save signature looks.
  • Motorola is the first mobile partner to weave Google Photos Memories directly into its content feed, giving users a seamless way to revisit their best moments every day.

For years, Motorola and Google have worked hand in hand to deliver Android experiences that surprise and delight, specifically when it comes to Google Photos, which is Motorola’s default gallery app. Building on this strong partnership, Motorola and Google are announcing the launch of a new wardrobe feature in Google Photos that digitizes users’ closets to make sorting clothes and planning outfits easier than ever.

With this new feature, Google Photos helps users capture the clothing items and accessories from their photo library, generating clean, snapshot images of the pieces. The result is an organized view of the user’s closet. From there, users can easily mix, match and try-on different outfits and even share them with friends right from their Google Photos app. With wardrobe, a user can save their favorite looks and get inspired by the clothes they already own.

This feature not only saves users time when getting ready for a night out or packing for a trip, but it also encourages individuality and self-expression, which are also core pillars of the Motorola brand. Soon to be available on a variety of Android devices,1 this feature will offer a seamless experience for Motorola users, leveraging Google Photos’ status as the device’s primary gallery.

Motorola is also integrating Google Photos Memories in its new software feature, Daily Drops, a personalized content feed that refreshes twice a day based on users’ interests. From the latest headlines to a calendar overview2 and even weather updates, Daily Drops makes each update meaningful and relevant to each user. By directly integrating Google Photos3 Memories in Daily Drops, we’ve made it effortless for users to rediscover and relive their favorite moments every day. This is the first time memories have been integrated in this type of personalized content feed on a mobile device.

Availability

Google Photos wardrobe will launch on a variety of Android devices—including Motorola devices—in select regions over the coming months. Daily Drops has already begun rolling out on select Motorola devices in select countries across Europe, North America, Latin America and Asia and will arrive on the new razr family shortly after launch.
