Over the years we have developed and enhanced our ThinkShield platform to deliver business-grade security, manageability, productivity, and service features for our smartphones. And with Lenovo ThinkPhone by Motorola we’re continuing our commitment to deliver customers unparalleled security with Moto KeySafe, which provides our smartphones with the latest device security technology. With Moto KeySafe, our devices have a security processor dedicated to running processes more securely and better protecting sensitive data and information.
With this capability we are able to deliver hardware-level security with tamper-resistant protection. As a physically isolated processor, Moto KeySafe helps counter against malicious attacks on the core processor. One way it provides this protection is by having its own separate memory location where highly sensitive digital keys are stored. Additionally the firmware running on this processor is further hardened to withstand attacks. With this level of protection, sensitive processes (e.g. device unlock and file encryption) and data are better protected from advanced attacks (e.g. physical and side-channel attacks).
You can think of Moto KeySafe like having a hidden safe inside your home or office. All Motorola devices with ThinkShield built-in security have superior protection. But with Moto KeySafe, selected devices will have an additional layer to protect against advanced attacks.
Operating environment formally certified with high security level to protect sensitive data
We are able to deliver Moto KeySafe in collaboration with industry partners, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. and Google. Moto KeySafe’s current implementation is based on the secure processing unit in the Snapdragon® 8+ Gen 1 Mobile Platform and follows Android security requirements for Strongbox Keymaster. With this implementation, Moto KeySafe delivers a certified platform with further enhanced security to our consumers.
Enables digital keys for cars, digital wallet for e-money solutions and others
With Moto KeySafe, sensitive processes use additional layers of advanced authentication. An example of a sensitive process is the device lock using a pin or password and file encryption. For these processes to work, the devices will store digital keys and these keys are checked every time the process is run. Now with Moto KeySafe, these digital keys are stored in a separate place with additional authentication to access them for added security. In the technical world, this is called a keymaster HAL (hardware abstraction layer).
Motorola devices with Moto KeySafe are ready for solutions such as digital car and house keys, digital passports and driver licenses, and advanced payment solutions that require uncompromised levels of security. With Moto KeySafe built-in, developers of these new solutions are able to leverage our dedicated security processor to provide their users with peace of mind that their most valuable assets are being protected on a Motorola device.
Moto KeySafe will be available in select devices, including the motorola edge 30 ultra and Lenovo ThinkPhone by Motorola .
