Motorola edge 50 ultra ranks among top 5 camera systems worldwide on smartphones launched in 2024, according to DXOMARK

This achievement is a result of camera technology investments, our leadership in AI experiences and true-to-life colors validated by Pantone.

dxomark logoMotorola is excited to announce that the motorola edge 50 ultra has been ranked among the best 5 smartphone cameras launched worldwide in 2024, according to DXOMARK. This gold badge recognition, reserved for devices delivering a best-in-class camera experience, comes after Motorola’s investment in camera technology, leadership in AI experiences and Pantone Validated™ colors that guarantee true-to-life images for camera.

DXOMARK is a world-renowned technology Quality Evaluation Laboratory, that evaluates the quality of consumer electronics and professional products through scientific testing and perceptual analysis. The company tests smartphone camera sensors across five sub-categories: Photo, Zoom, Bokeh, Preview, and Video. After undergoing DXOMARK’s rigorous and comprehensive tests, the motorola edge 50 ultra earned an impressive camera score of 146*. This ranking underscores Motorola’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of smartphone technology and delivering exceptional user experiences.

“In the highly competitive smartphone market, camera quality remains a crucial factor influencing purchase decisions. Motorola has undeniably made significant strides in enhancing both the quality and user-friendliness of its camera systems over the past year and a half. With the introduction of the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra, the company has raised the bar, offering the most compelling photography experience to date”, says Carolina Milanesi, President and Principal Analyst at Creative Strategies.

In developing Motorola’s most impressive camera system to date, we incorporated valuable consumer insights uncovered through our global user research teams. We also leveraged the expertise of our R&D centers in the United States, Brazil and China. Our approach integrates user-friendly features, state-of-the-art hardware, AI-powered software, and color validation from Pantone to ensure accurate color representation.

“The smartphone has evolved into the primary, and often the sole, camera for consumers. Therefore, we have made significant investments in enhancing the camera systems of our devices, from hardware innovations to software advancements,” says Matthew Biggerstaff, Global Director of Engineering for Camera at Motorola. “This result is a testament to our relentless efforts to enhance our camera technology year after year, including the addition of moto ai and the experiences it enables in our cameras. We are motivated by this achievement and eager to continue this momentum.”

The edge 50 ultra has high-resolution cameras designed to capture stunning, detail-rich images in any lighting condition. Key features include a 50MP main lens, a 64MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and 100x Super Zoom, a 50MP ultrawide lens with macro vision, and a 50MP selfie camera with autofocus.

Recognizing that over 90% of our users take photos in the automatic mode, our moto ai powers the edge 50 ultra’s sophisticated camera system to deliver exceptional performance in both photos and videos. For instance, the new Photo Enhancement Engine ensures effortless, high-quality photos with every shot by applying optimal AI-based settings from multiple shooting modes simultaneously. Action Shot automatically increases and adjusts the shutter speed of the camera based on different lighting conditions, so consumers can better freeze the action, avoiding blurred photos. Additionally, the brand new telephoto sensor uses AI to enhance zoom quality, and is one of the world’s first smartphones with Pantone Validatedcertification which guarantees accurate color and skin tone representation for both camera and display.

The hottest things on the new motorola razr 50 ultra/motorola razr+

From fashion to people, and everything in between, it’s clear that some things simply belong together. When we think of the Y2K era, certain pairings come to mind: celebrities and the color pink, flip phones and T9 texting, and of course, the razr V3 in Hot Pink, which was commonly clipped to the waistband of low-rise jeans.

When things are better together, they become timeless—iconic, even. The Y2K era has returned, bringing with it everything from digital cameras to butterfly clips. Now, Motorola has brought back another icon with a modern twist. So, don’t worry about turning back time or being born in the wrong generation because the new motorola razr 50 ultra/motorola razr+ is here and hotter than ever.

1. Iconic flip design that’s perfect for purses, pockets, and dramatic hang ups

Whether you want a tiny purse to complete your look or you decide to go hands-free for a night out, the new motorola razr 50 ultra/motorola razr+ is pocket-sized and ready for anything. It’s small enough to fit into most compartments, but when it’s time to kick back, you can flip it open and discover a large 6.9” screen that’s ideal for streaming or posting. Snapping the phone shut is even easier with one hand—a must-have for ending conversations—and holding the device is extra comfortable, thanks to soft, vegan leather. Plus, the new device comes in ultra-vibrant shades like Spring Green, Peach Fuzz, Midnight Blue, and obviously, Hot Pink, for a pop of color and hint of nostalgia.

2. Extra-large external display for non-stop fun

Catch up on socials, text friends back, find the nearest coffee shop, or take selfies without having to flip open your phone. The massive external display allows you to stay up to date without getting fully sucked in, complementing the occasional desire for a digital detox. When you want to deck out your device, you can create a new look by customizing the lock and home screens to showcase your personality. You can also play games directly from the external display on your morning commute.

3. Camera system that moves with you to capture your best angles

Say goodbye to carrying around multiple gadgets to get your best shot. With the new motorola razr 50 ultra/motorola razr+, you have the only “tech-cessory” you need. That’s due to Flex View, which allows you to place the phone in multiple positions and instantly capture your vision. There’s also a new 50MP camera that pumps out gorgeous portraits, so you always have a new profile picture ready. And new moto ai shooting features optimize camera performance because intelligence is hot.

4. Built-in life coach with Google’s Gemini app

Sometimes we don’t have all the answers, and honestly, it’s nice to have technology do the extra thinking. The new motorola razr 50 ultra/motorola razr+ comes with Google’s Gemini app preloaded on the external display so that you can learn about a topic, write thank you notes, plan events, and more in a matter of seconds. This way, you can spend more time doing, instead of having to extensively research and ideate—a win-win for your busy schedule.

5. Retro razr mode for a trip back in time

Missing the original razr experience? Swipe down for quick settings, and locate the “Retro razr” feature. From there, you’ll unlock the razr V3 interface and be instantly transported to the early 2000s. No time machine required.
