The hottest things on the new motorola razr 50 ultra/motorola razr+

From fashion to people, and everything in between, it’s clear that some things simply belong together. When we think of the Y2K era, certain pairings come to mind: celebrities and the color pink, flip phones and T9 texting, and of course, the razr V3 in Hot Pink, which was commonly clipped to the waistband of low-rise jeans.

When things are better together, they become timeless—iconic, even. The Y2K era has returned, bringing with it everything from digital cameras to butterfly clips. Now, Motorola has brought back another icon with a modern twist. So, don’t worry about turning back time or being born in the wrong generation because the new motorola razr 50 ultra/motorola razr+ is here and hotter than ever.

1. Iconic flip design that’s perfect for purses, pockets, and dramatic hang ups

Whether you want a tiny purse to complete your look or you decide to go hands-free for a night out, the new motorola razr 50 ultra/motorola razr+ is pocket-sized and ready for anything. It’s small enough to fit into most compartments, but when it’s time to kick back, you can flip it open and discover a large 6.9” screen that’s ideal for streaming or posting. Snapping the phone shut is even easier with one hand—a must-have for ending conversations—and holding the device is extra comfortable, thanks to soft, vegan leather. Plus, the new device comes in ultra-vibrant shades like Spring Green, Peach Fuzz, Midnight Blue, and obviously, Hot Pink, for a pop of color and hint of nostalgia.

2. Extra-large external display for non-stop fun

Catch up on socials, text friends back, find the nearest coffee shop, or take selfies without having to flip open your phone. The massive external display allows you to stay up to date without getting fully sucked in, complementing the occasional desire for a digital detox. When you want to deck out your device, you can create a new look by customizing the lock and home screens to showcase your personality. You can also play games directly from the external display on your morning commute.

3. Camera system that moves with you to capture your best angles

Say goodbye to carrying around multiple gadgets to get your best shot. With the new motorola razr 50 ultra/motorola razr+, you have the only “tech-cessory” you need. That’s due to Flex View, which allows you to place the phone in multiple positions and instantly capture your vision. There’s also a new 50MP camera that pumps out gorgeous portraits, so you always have a new profile picture ready. And new moto ai shooting features optimize camera performance because intelligence is hot.

4. Built-in life coach with Google’s Gemini app

Sometimes we don’t have all the answers, and honestly, it’s nice to have technology do the extra thinking. The new motorola razr 50 ultra/motorola razr+ comes with Google’s Gemini app preloaded on the external display so that you can learn about a topic, write thank you notes, plan events, and more in a matter of seconds. This way, you can spend more time doing, instead of having to extensively research and ideate—a win-win for your busy schedule.

5. Retro razr mode for a trip back in time

Missing the original razr experience? Swipe down for quick settings, and locate the “Retro razr” feature. From there, you’ll unlock the razr V3 interface and be instantly transported to the early 2000s. No time machine required.

Motorola brings new AI-driven experiences to the 2024 razr family with Google

Imagine a world where your smartphone isn’t just a device, but a personal assistant, creative studio, and productivity powerhouse all in one. By collaborating with Google, Motorola has turned this vision a reality by bringing AI-driven experiences and convenient features to the new razr family

For the first time, razr users can access Gemini¹ directly from the external display. Google’s Gemini app is a personal AI assistant to supercharge your creativity and productivity. Whether users need step-by-step instructions for a new project, help planning trips and activities, or assistance in writing thank-you notes or emails. Gemini can even help brainstorm ideas for enhancing daily life and seamlessly access information from Google apps and services like Maps, YouTube, Flights, Gmail, and Drive. Gemini is always there to provide support.

Plus, razr users will receive Gemini Advanced for 3 months with access to Google’s most capable AI models, at no extra cost. They’ll also get 2 TB of cloud storage and Gemini in their favorite Google apps like Gmail, Docs, and more—all included in the Google One AI Premium plan.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to bring the helpfulness of Gemini to Motorola’s new phones,” said Amar Subramanya, vice president of engineering at Google. “By integrating Gemini into the new Razr devices, we’re giving people direct access to their very own personal AI assistant – there to tackle complex tasks and collaborate on the go.”

Users can reimagine daily tasks – like texting – with a few unique features that are built into Google Messages. Photomoji transforms their favorite photos into personalized emojis and stickers, adding a visual flair to messages. And with Magic Compose², users can receive suggested texting responses in various styles like Excited, Chill, Formal, and Short, enabling them to get creative with their messages.

“Innovation has always been at the core of Motorola’s DNA, and our collaboration with Google marks a significant milestone in redefining what a smartphone can truly be,” said Dan Dery, Head of Software Experiences & Internet Services at Motorola. “With the new razr family, we’re not just introducing a device; we’re unveiling a new era of seamless connectivity and unparalleled functionality where technology not only enhances but also enriches every aspect of our lives.”

To further improve the external display experience on the new razr devices, we’ve added access to Google Photos. This allows users to view, delete, favorite, or share photos or videos stored locally or in the cloud without opening their phone, making it easier to access memories and find photos quickly. Google Photos will soon offer Ask Photos, a new way to search photos with Gemini. Stay tuned for more information in the coming months.

When it’s time to edit these photos, users can open the new razr and use the latest AI-powered editing tools in Google Photos including Magic Editor, Magic Eraser, Photo Unblur, and more.

Motorola and Google’s partnership also introduces moto ai features enabled by Google Cloud, such as Moto Magic Canvas. This innovative tool lets users create stunning images by simply describing them with text prompts, turning imagination into reality. Users can also take advantage of features like Style Sync for an added layer of customization. Style Sync creates personalized device wallpaper options when a user uploads a photo of a pattern from their outfit or surroundings.

Beyond AI, Motorola and Google have also partnered to bring razr and Android users alike, a more precise, convenient way to track their valuables. Expanding the Motorola ecosystem, the new moto tag is Ultra Wideband compatible⁴ and helps users locate everyday items like keys, wallets, and luggage via Google’s Find My Device network.³

The new motorola razr family debuts the industry’s largest, most intelligent external display of any flip phone, revamped iconic design, and powerful AI-driven features

Overview

  • Google’s Gemini app and Google Photos on the external display for everything in one place
  • New colors, materials, and reimagined Hello UX software elevate the razr user experience
  • Embrace day-to-night with powerful performance and long battery life
  • The Motorola device ecosystem expands with the new moto tag

Twenty years after the groundbreaking launch of the RAZR V3, Motorola continues to maintain its iconic essence and expand the boundaries of smartphone technology with each new iteration of the razr. The new 2024 motorola razr family is no exception, showcasing Motorola’s commitment to evolution and excellence. With the new motorola razr 50 ultra/motorola razr+ and motorola razr 50/motorola razr, we are introducing two stylish pocket-sized smartphones that bring the power of AI to more users’ hands.

Do it all with the largest, most intelligent external display in its class1

Both members of the new razr family feature massive external displays with the motorola razr 50 ultra/motorola razr+ boasting the industry’s largest at 4.0,” and the motorola razr 50/motorola razr bringing a 3.6” display. Even more, for the first time, razr users will be able to access Google’s Gemini app2 directly from their external display. Easily press and hold the power button to bring up Gemini, and get help building a road trip itinerary with popular sights and activities, creating a personalized workout routine in a matter of seconds, getting recipes based on what’s in the refrigerator, and much more.

Also new to the external display is access to Google Photos, giving users the ability to share, view, delete, or favorite images and videos instantly. This is in addition to a dedicated Spotify panel that allows users to skip songs, and a Bose panel that allows you to more easily control your Bose earbuds and headphones.

When ready for a new look, Motorola is offering a new suite of clock faces and fun customization options for the external display. Users can change their Desk Display to feature a rotation of text and images they’re into that day, creating their own modern screensaver. Or they can shake it up with moto ai experiences. This includes Style Sync, which develops wallpaper options based on one’s outfit, and Magic Canvas, which generates a stunning image based on a text prompt.

Design choices that are bold, beautiful and undeniably razr

The new razr devices feature bold colors, soft vegan leather finishes, and contoured edges that look as good as they feel in hand. With the motorola razr 50 ultra/motorola razr+, consumers can pick between Midnight Blue, Spring Green, and Pantone™ Color of the Year 2024, Peach Fuzz. Plus, the iconic Hot Pink3 razr is back, giving consumers their daily dose of feel-good “newstalgia.”

Infusing color on the front and back of the device, the motorola razr 50/motorola razr features shades of Beach Sand, Koala Grey, and Spritz Orange in vegan leather.

The devices are also adventure-proof. Corning® Gorilla® Glass Victus helps protect the external display from drops and scratches, underwater protection allows the device to withstand submersion in 1.5 meters of water for up to 30 minutes4, and the simplified hinge offers better dust protection.

Thanks to the revamped hinge, it’s also easier to flick open or snap the device shut with one hand. This makes the razr ideal for dramatic hang ups or switching to the massive 6.9” pOLED display. A wide range of Flex View positions empowers users to snap their outfit of the day with the hands-free capture or record a beautiful skyline in shake-free camcorder mode that’s optimized for social media. For impromptu photoshoots, Photo Booth is now available on the external and internal cameras, stitching together four photos in a ready-to-share collage.

Cameras that harness the “wow factor”

The new motorola razr 50 ultra/motorola razr+ comes with Motorola’s best razr camera technology yet, featuring a 50MP high-res, main camera system with moto ai camera capabilities and Google Photos AI-powered editing features. With the 50MP telephoto lens, users can take advantage of the 2x optical zoom without losing image quality to capture stunning, flattering portraits that look great when standing up close or farther away.

Optimized hardware and attentive software for non-stop fun

The motorola razr 50 ultra/motorola razr+ is one of the world’s first flip phones to come with the Snapdragon® 8s Gen 3 Mobile Platform. This allows consumers to discover what’s possible with AI through accelerated performance, unparalleled connectivity, fast-paced gameplay, and even better content capture.

When texting friends, consumers can utilize new features that amplify their conversations. Built into Google Messages, these enhancements include: Magic Compose5, which suggests texting responses in a variety of styles, so consumers can express themselves in new, creative ways, and Photomoji, which gives consumers the option to turn their favorite photos into personalized emoji or stickers.

To make the most of these features, the motorola razr 50 ultra/motorola razr+ is packed with a big 4000mAh battery that offers 5W reverse and 15W wireless charging capabilities6.

The motorola razr 50/motorola razr is also prepared to handle long days and even longer nights with a hefty 4200mAh battery and 30W TurboPower charging7. It also has 15W wireless charging capabilities6, and the 4nm MediaTek Dimensity 7300X processor offers better power efficiency to outlast all occasions. Additionally, the chipset enhances AI-based tasks while supporting visuals and new experiences.

A device ecosystem that’s all about connection

With the new motorola razr family, Motorola is expanding the Moto ecosystem. In addition to the recently launched moto buds, Motorola is introducing moto tag –  a small, accessory-friendly Bluetooth® LE tag with Ultra Wideband8 that helps consumers locate their most valuable possessions, from their wallet to luggage, through Google’s Find My Device network9.

Smart software that does all the thinking

Motorola’s distinctive software platform, Hello UX, offers an extensively personalized user experience, immersive capabilities, and an intuitive user interface. In addition to now offering more customizable options on the razr family external display, users will continue to enjoy advanced ecosystem connectivity with Smart Connect, a safe environment for kids with Family Space, the ability to disconnect with Moto Unplugged, and comprehensive security settings with Moto Secure.

moto ai also enhances the smartphone experience by addressing user pain points with innovative generative AI solutions. In the coming months, Motorola will introduce several new moto ai capabilities:

  • With a simple prompt of “Catch me up,” users will receive a prioritized summary of personal communications, eliminating the need to sift through notifications.
  • Asking “Pay attention” will enable instant recording of conversations or speakers, automatically transcribing and summarizing them.
  • A command to “Remember this” will capture live moments or on-screen information, saving them automatically with AI-generated details. Information will be stored on the user’s device for easy recall later.

Additionally, users will be able to access moto ai anywhere on their phone for assistance, quick suggestions, and answers to questions, including device usage guidance or more complex inquiries using Gemini from Google Cloud.

Motorola razr 40 ultra receives update that enhances the user experience

At Motorola we’re committed to enhancing the user experience and listening to consumer feedback. We’re thrilled to introduce the latest update for the motorola razr 40 ultra/motorola razr+ that brings exciting features, including the all-new Moto Unplugged.

Stay in the moment with Moto Unplugged

With the introduction of Moto Unplugged, we’re empowering users to find balance in their digital lives. This feature, initially announced with the motorola razr 40/motorola razr, is now available on the razr 40 ultra/razr+. Moto Unplugged allows users to curate their digital experience by selecting permitted apps and notifications. They can even set a password to exit this distraction-free zone. When it’s time to disconnect, users can set a duration for their digital break, helping them stay in the moment without distractions.

Revamped user experiences on the external display

Our commitment to making life easier for our users extends to the external display. In this update, we’re taking the external display to the next level. Users can now rotate the phone, and the external display will seamlessly adapt to the current orientation*, much like the internal display. This means you can scroll through your favorite social media feeds or enjoy content from different angles without having to open the phone.

With this update, users can now have more than six panel shortcuts on the home screen to quickly access widgets and apps without swiping left or right.

Users can also quickly access the calendar by clicking the date underneath the time. And can easily toggle between other dates and “today.”

The news panel has a fresh look and now users can scroll down for more stories or tap on the story card for full details.

Motorola releases special edition razr and edge devices, the first and only smartphones to launch in Pantone Color of the Year 2024

–        The motorola razr 40 ultra/motorola razr+ and motorola edge 40 neo will be available in PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz
–        This marks the third year of the exclusive collaboration focusing on the importance of building connection and empowering self-expression for consumers

Motorola and Pantone, the global color authority, have teamed up for the third year to create devices in the Pantone Color of the Year. The Pantone Color of the Year 2024, PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz, reinforces the importance of human connection and so do the devices chosen to represent it – the motorola razr 40 ultra/motorola razr+ and motorola edge 40 neo

The Pantone Color of the Year, announced by the Pantone Color Institute, is an educational program reflecting on the symbolic nature of color. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Pantone Color of  the Year program with the chosen color PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz. A velvety gentle peach hue, PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz has a cozy, tender essence that embodies feelings of togetherness, community and collaboration.

Of their continued partnership, Ruben Castano, Head of Customer Experience and Design at Motorola, said, “As technology becomes intertwined with humanity, we trust color to provide a tool for expression and deeper, more meaningful experiences with our devices. This includes going beyond devices and into the software itself. The Pantone Color of the Year 2024 does just that as it blends the virtual world we live in and our desire to establish deeper connections and well-being.”

The choice of PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz complements Motorola’s mission to make technology more accessible and help consumers use technology to connect intentionally. When selecting devices to feature PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz, Motorola reflected on the color message and its emphasis on the power of human connection, finding that the motorola razr 40 ultra/motorola razr+ and motorola edge 40 neo embodied this mentality.

Available globally, the motorola razr 40 ultra/razr+ is built for connection and collaboration and lets expressive individuals stand out from the crowd with its iconic, flippable design.

The motorola edge 40 neo is a device that puts color at the center of design. And the PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz hue in vegan leather beautifully complements the device’s warm, contoured design, engaging one’s senses and kindling the imagination.

Both devices are designed with connection and personality at the center and offer features developed to enhance our common humanity. These include Motorola’s latest software offerings, Moto Unplugged and Family Space. Both of these apps embrace the balance between connectedness and rest, security and boldness. Moto Unplugged centers around the importance of taking mindful breaks from our device to be more present with ourselves and those around us, while Family Space encourages families to explore technology with guidance and grace.

“It has been wonderful to work with Motorola and see their dedication to enabling creativity, connection, and personalization through color across their devices, and this year’s color carries particular importance to harnessing connection, community and personal wellbeing,” Laurie Pressman, Vice President of the Pantone Color Institute, said. “Our Pantone Color of the Year 2024, PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz, seamlessly blends the virtual and real life, making it an ideal color for the physicality of digital devices. We are excited to see how our audiences leverage the features Motorola offers to enable and facilitate further connections.”

The motorola razr 40 ultra/motorola razr+ and motorola edge 40 neo in the Pantone Color of the Year 2024 will be available in select markets worldwide. For full pricing information and specifications, visit our website.

Introducing Moto Unplugged, designed to help users stay in the moment while staying connected

Smartphones keep people connected to everything that matters and more, but sometimes users need to unplug and remove distractions. In recent years, Motorola has been tracking trends and has seen an increase in consumers, particularly younger consumers, that want to disconnect and have a healthier relationship with their phones. Research has shown that today’s solutions are unable to adequately help users disconnect, lack customization options, and are too easy to abandon.

Based on these insights, Motorola is introducing a new software experience called Moto Unplugged to help consumers take a break from the distractions of their phones. Moto Unplugged empowers people to take a step back and match their mobile experience with their mindset by allowing them to choose when and how they want to disconnect.

What makes Moto Unplugged standout is the ability to enter a special mode, allowing each user to tailor a break time to meet their individual needs. Setup is simple. The user can select permitted apps and notifications, as well as require a password to end their session. Then, when they are ready to unplug, select a time frame and start a digital break.

If a user needs to focus during work hours, they could choose to access only their email or Microsoft Teams and not see any other app for a set timeframe. Or, for those looking to disconnect for some personal time, users can choose to limit which social media and messaging apps are accessible and which are temporarily blocked and enjoy a break for however long they choose.

Moto Unplugged lets users create their own oasis without totally disconnecting, so they can relax and stay in control. That means more quality time with friends and family, more time to focus on the work that matters now, and more balance in users’ day-to-day life.

Moto Unplugged is available on motorola razr across North America. In the coming weeks it will be available to razr 40 Ultra/razr+ and razr 40 devices globally, and will be brought to additional devices in the future.

Foldable fun for everyone: Introducing the new motorola razr

Meet the new motorola razr – a device designed for trendsetters who like to stand out from the crowd, and digital minimalists who want to disconnect and remove distractions. The razr is crafted with the same iconic form factor and compact design as the razr+, unfolding into a full-sized premium smartphone.

With a price tag lower than any other foldable on the U.S. market, the new razr makes foldable technology accessible to a much broader audience. Plus, with new software that makes users find a better balance between their lifestyle and the way they use technology, unplugging is easier than ever.

Unplug your way

With the introduction of the razr, Motorola is unveiling a new software experience called Moto Unplugged to help users take a break from their smartphone, removing distractions so they can be more present. Gen Z is already establishing its own rules for how, why, and when it engages with technology, especially smartphones. That’s why Motorola has created Moto Unplugged. An experience empowering users to take a step back and match their mobile experience with their mindset by allowing them to choose when and how they want to disconnect.

The setup is simple. Users choose essential apps and contacts they still want available. Then whenever they want to unplug, select a time frame and start a digital break. For example, if a user needs to focus during work hours, they could choose to access only their email or Microsoft Teams and not see any other app for a set timeframe. Or, for those looking to disconnect for some personal time, users can choose to limit which social media and messaging apps are accessible and which are temporarily blocked and enjoy a break for however long they choose. That means more quality time with friends & family, more time to focus on the work that matters now, and more time to balance your day-to-day life.

Whatever the motivation may be, Moto Unplugged helps users disconnect and break away from the distractions of their phone.

Iconic flip design with a versatile camera system

The new razr comes with a distinct and comfortable look-and-feel, combining Corning Gorilla Glass and a premium vegan leather that’s easy to grip and open, while being soft to the touch. The device is available in a range of fun, trendsetting colors including Cherry Blossom, Sage Green, Vanilla Cream, and Summer Lilac.

With the new razr, users are able to stand the device on its own at multiple angles thanks to Flex View technology, which offers new ways to interact, capture, and create. Users can angle the device to easily view recipes while cooking, follow an exercise coach online, video chat with friends, and more. Or, use the device as a tripod and capture stunning images and videos with hands-free recording.

The new motorola razr also features the highest resolution sensors on any of our foldable devices for both front and rear camera systems. Capture crystal-clear photos and selfies in any light with a 64 MP main camera and OIS, or take everything from breathtaking wide-angle shots to extreme close-ups with a 13MP Ultrawide + Macro Vision lens. Plus, use the 32 MP front camera for high-quality video calls.

Immersive entertainment experience with unbelievable battery life

The razr is complete with a massive 6.9” pOLED display and up to 144Hz refresh rates for seamless scrolling, gaming, and switching between tasks. This device also features Dolby Atmos®, so users can enjoy a richer multidimensional audio experience that brings out more depth, clarity, and details from their favorite entertainment when enjoyed over the device’s two large stereo speakers or headphones. The new Spatial Sound by Moto also makes sound feel even more immersive and fills the space around the user whether they’re listening to music or watching their favorite movie.

To power this premium entertainment experience, Motorola has also included a long-lasting 4200 mAh battery, not to mention this device supports ultra-fast 30W TurboPower charging and wireless charging (chargers sold separately).

Availability

In the U.S., the new motorola razr 2023 will be available for pre-order on motorola.com and through select carriers and retailers on October 12. The device will be available for sale starting October 19 at T-Mobile, Metro by T-Mobile, AT&T, Xfinity Mobile, USCellular, Boost Infinite, Boost Mobile, and Consumer Cellular, with subsequent availability at Cricket Wireless online and in-stores on October 20. 4 things you should know about the new motorola razr ultra 40/ razr+

At Motorola, we’re always looking for opportunities to bring unique innovations to our consumers, like the new motorola razr ultra 40/ razr+. But regardless of how game-changing the innovation is, we also believe that it needs to serve a purpose, solve our consumers’ pain points and delight them with useful features. Here are a few of our favorite features on the new motorola razr 40 ultra/razr+.

do more without even flipping open the device
We heard from consumers that they wanted more functionality from the external display, so we equipped razr 40 ultra/razr+ with the largest, most advanced external display on a modern flip smartphone*. Not only is it larger, but it also offers expanded capabilities for productivity, gaming, entertainment and personalization.

Users can watch their favorite shows and movies, take a selfie, or get directions using the large 3.6” 144Hz external display. They can also type a quick reply with a full built-in keyboard or use the dedicated Spotify panel to switch to custom playlists, select new stations and even see recommended artists and playlists, curated just for them. Plus, they can seamlessly continue whatever activities they’re doing on the internal display, on the external display once closed.

Customization is also among the top priorities for our consumers. That’s why we’ve equipped users with the option to choose from an assortment of colorful live wallpaper designs, moto clock styles, shortcuts for easy navigation, and panels so it’s arranged just the way you like it.

content capturing just got a whole lot easier
Now more than ever we’re seeing the value consumers place on the ability to quickly capture content. So when designing the razr ultra 40/ razr+, we made content creation a priority throughout each component.

With Flex View, the possibilities are endless. The ability to stand the phone on its own at multiple angles gives consumers built-in tripod capabilities on the go, and opens up new ways to interact, capture, and create. Plus with the high-quality cameras, AI face tracking, hands free recording, and previews on the large external display, users are able to more easily produce amazing social media content.

camera experiences worth raving about
The motorola razr 40 ultra/ razr+ not only comes equipped with a powerful 12MP main camera sensor with Instant Dual Pixel PDAF for a faster, more accurate performance no matter the lighting conditions but also some brand new camera software features to match.

Thanks to the Flex View and high-quality cameras, it’s super simple to capture gorgeous selfies. With the Photo Booth feature, users can preview and capture four different poses in four perfectly timed pictures, all triggered by a simple open-palm gesture.

Users can also leverage the large external display as a mirror before taking a selfie with the high-quality cameras, which let users zoom in 3x closer than a standard lens to see every little detail.

iconic, pocketable and stylish as ever
The motorola razr – the world’s first flip smartphone – introduced engineering breakthroughs and while evolving razr’s design, we looked for areas of continuous refinement.  razr 40 ultra/ razr+ delivers the perfect balance of style and innovation and is the thinnest flippable smartphone in the industry when flipped closed, when compared to other foldables in the market. The reimagined hinge mechanism makes for a virtually creaseless, smooth, and seamless touchscreen experience when opened. And the colors, matte glass or vegan leather finish, and materials used to make an ultra-sleek, modern look and feel when flipped shut.
