The new year is here, and with it comes the latest addition to the North American moto g family – the new moto g play – 2024. Built to deliver elevated entertainment, the new moto g play puts advanced features in more consumers’ hands. A pocket-sized home theater

On the moto g play – 2024, entertainment comes to life. The 6.5” HD+ display features a 90Hz refresh rate that makes watching sports, videos or movies smooth and seamless. Plus, auto mode helps save battery life by adjusting the screen refresh rate from 90hz¹ to 60Hz. To power these advanced entertainment features, the new moto g play packs in the 6nm Snapdragon^® 680 4G Mobile Platform to deliver brilliant photography, smooth streaming, and rich audio.

These experiences are complemented by stereo speakers and Dolby Atmos^® immersive audio. With added layers and sharper details, Dolby Atmos^® delivers a richer, multi-dimensional sound experience across consumers’ favorite entertainment. Plus, the Hi-Res Audio² certification includes a wider dynamic range. This means consumers can now access professional-level sound when listening via compatible streaming apps and headphones.

Versatile camera capture

Capture sharp photos thanks to the fast-focusing 50MP⁴main camera with Quad Pixel technology. There’s also HDR and Phase Detection Autofocus to help create balanced, well-lit images by focusing in the blink of an eye.

An 8MP front camera is also available for solo shots and group selfies. The Photobooth feature simplifies group photos and adds some extra fun by allowing consumers and their friends to stitch together four different poses in four perfectly timed pictures.

Elevated peace of mind

The new moto g play comes equipped with Corning^® Gorilla^® 3 and an IP52 protection rating for durability against cuts, scratches, spills, and splashes.³ Not only do these materials keep your device protected, but they also contribute to a sleek and stylish design.

All consumers deserve access to apps and features that encourage personal well-being and added security. This is why the new moto g play – 2024 is protected by ThinkShield for Mobile and comes with Moto Unplugged and the latest Moto Secure features.

It also includes functionalities like Family Space, a Motorola app that gives users the ability to create a designated “safe space” on their device where kids can learn and play. This includes setting limits on screen time, controlling which apps are accessible, and even creating multiple profiles, so everyone can use the device in the way they want.

Supporting these capabilities and more, the moto g play – 2024 runs on Android 13 and has up to 46 hours of battery life⁵, making power concerns yesterday’s problem. Plus, 15W rapid charging⁶ helps users charge up fast and return to what matters most.

In the U.S., the new moto g play – 2024 will be available universally unlocked at Amazon.com, Best Buy, and Motorola.com starting February 8 (MSRP: $149.99*), with subsequent availability at Consumer Cellular, Verizon, Xfinity Mobile, Visible, Cricket, AT&T, UScellular, and Cox Mobile, and on Straight Talk, Walmart Family Mobile, Total by Verizon, and Simple Mobile.

Canada: In Canada, the new moto g play – 2024 will be available through select carriers and national retailers on January 26, 2024.*

Stay in the moment with Moto Unplugged

With the introduction of Moto Unplugged, we’re empowering users to find balance in their digital lives. This feature, initially announced with the motorola razr 40/motorola razr, is now available on the razr 40 ultra/razr+. Moto Unplugged allows users to curate their digital experience by selecting permitted apps and notifications. They can even set a password to exit this distraction-free zone. When it’s time to disconnect, users can set a duration for their digital break, helping them stay in the moment without distractions.

Revamped user experiences on the external display

Our commitment to making life easier for our users extends to the external display. In this update, we’re taking the external display to the next level. Users can now rotate the phone, and the external display will seamlessly adapt to the current orientation*, much like the internal display. This means you can scroll through your favorite social media feeds or enjoy content from different angles without having to open the phone.

With this update, users can now have more than six panel shortcuts on the home screen to quickly access widgets and apps without swiping left or right.

Users can also quickly access the calendar by clicking the date underneath the time. And can easily toggle between other dates and “today.”

The news panel has a fresh look and now users can scroll down for more stories or tap on the story card for full details.

Over 5 million people have used Moto Secure in the last month, prioritizing tools like Secure Folder and PIN Scramble. Motorola’s new suite of features enhances these capabilities and more, delivering additional protection, regardless of the circumstance. Find out more about the consumer benefits:

1. Secure Folder for Files

Secure Folder makes it easy to hide sensitive apps, files and documents by giving the option to add a password or disguise the folder with a different name or icon, so it’s not easily accessible or detectable. The user can even turn on “Stealth Mode” in settings to make the folder invisible in the app tray.

Secure Folder for Files is ideal for consumers looking to backup important files, including health records, confidential work presentations and financial papers but don’t want them visible on their device.

2. Auto Lock

Auto Lock was designed to protect users’ data. Using GPS and Bluetooth disconnections for tracking, Auto Lock detects when the phone has been accessed outside of trusted places and devices. It then automatically locks the device to help keep information safe and secure.

For example, if a commuter’s phone is stolen while using public transportation or a user forgets their unlocked phone at a coffee shop, they can lean on Auto Lock to help safeguard their sensitive data.

3. Phishing Detection

Phishing Detection uses AI to warn Motorola consumers about potential threats associated with suspicious links or websites – before they even open the page. This also applies to opening links within third party apps, so users stay better protected across platforms.

When users receive a message from a credible-looking source, like their bank, and click on an embedded link, Phishing Detection flags the URL and the riskiness of the website. This provides crucial alerts to users so they can avoid sharing personal information with cybercriminals.

4. Security Scan

Security Scan does the privacy work for consumers, getting ahead of potential threats by scanning the device’s firmware and then providing security recommendations. This helps prevent the phone from being jeopardized by malicious software.

Introducing Moto Unplugged, designed to help users stay in the moment while staying connected

Smartphones keep people connected to everything that matters and more, but sometimes users need to unplug and remove distractions. In recent years, Motorola has been tracking trends and has seen an increase in consumers, particularly younger consumers, that want to disconnect and have a healthier relationship with their phones. Research has shown that today’s solutions are unable to adequately help users disconnect, lack customization options, and are too easy to abandon.

Based on these insights, Motorola is introducing a new software experience called Moto Unplugged to help consumers take a break from the distractions of their phones. Moto Unplugged empowers people to take a step back and match their mobile experience with their mindset by allowing them to choose when and how they want to disconnect.

What makes Moto Unplugged standout is the ability to enter a special mode, allowing each user to tailor a break time to meet their individual needs. Setup is simple. The user can select permitted apps and notifications, as well as require a password to end their session. Then, when they are ready to unplug, select a time frame and start a digital break.

If a user needs to focus during work hours, they could choose to access only their email or Microsoft Teams and not see any other app for a set timeframe. Or, for those looking to disconnect for some personal time, users can choose to limit which social media and messaging apps are accessible and which are temporarily blocked and enjoy a break for however long they choose.

Moto Unplugged lets users create their own oasis without totally disconnecting, so they can relax and stay in control. That means more quality time with friends and family, more time to focus on the work that matters now, and more balance in users’ day-to-day life.

Unveiling an adaptive display concept that molds to our consumer needs

Motorola continues to push boundaries and invest in flexible display technology and devices. This new conceptual device uses a FHD+ pOLED display that can be bent and shaped into different forms depending on users’ needs. This adaptive display concept further builds upon the display and mechanical innovations from our foldable and rollable devices in both the smartphone and PC categories.

The adaptive display concept can be adjusted from a standard Android phone experience in a flat position to being wrapped for a wrist-worn experience or positioned in several stand modes. When laid flat, the 6.9″ display runs a full Android experience, just like any smartphone. In the upright position, the device can be adjusted into a self standing position, running a more compact form of full Android on a 4.6″ display. Users can also wrap the device around their wrist for a similar experience to the external display on motorola razr+ to stay connected while on the go.

Introducing a new set of Motorola AI concepts

Motorola understands the importance of personalization for consumers. That’s why we’re committed to exploring how AI can enhance device customization to provide users with a truly one-of-kind experience. Motorola has developed a generative AI model that runs locally on the device to allow users to extend their personal style to their phone. With this concept, users can upload or capture a picture of their outfit to produce multiple unique AI-generated images that reflect their style. These images can then be used as a custom wallpaper on their device.

MotoAI
Lenovo is developing a personal assistant for both PCs and smartphones. This AI model never stops learning. It has a foundational model uniquely personalized to the user while still protecting their privacy. It also has a knowledge base that adapts to patterns and usage with natural voice or text interaction capabilities.

The MotoAI concept is an innovative approach to the latest trend in AI with large language models (LLMs). Users can engage with their personal MotoAI assistant to answer questions, draft messages, schedule tasks, and so much more. While most LLMs run cloud-based operations, MotoAI can process data and run tasks locally on-device. which offers users enhanced data privacy. MotoAI also features an on-device knowledge base where the user’s patterns and preferences inform their experience, making it more dynamic, personal, and helpful over time.

2.0 Mobile Doc Scan
Recognizing the growing demand for real-time document scanning on the go, Motorola has introduced an AI concept model that enhances the Doc Scanner capability currently integrated in Motorola camera systems. Google Photos Auto Enhance is now available exclusively in the Motorola camera interface on the new motorola edge 40 neo, motorola edge 40, moto g84 5G and moto g84 5G

More than 93% of Motorola consumers effortlessly open the camera application and capture photos without any additional settings or post-capture editing. With that in mind, Motorola will add the Google Photos Auto Enhance algorithm into the camera software of the new motorola edge 40 neo, motorola edge 40, moto g84 5G and moto g54 5G.

Users can toggle the Auto Enhance option in the camera’s user interface to instantly enhance color and lighting after a photo is taken. Once applied, the AI-based algorithm adjusts the components of each photo, carefully analyzing the image and automatically improving white balance, exposure, highlights, shadows, contrast, saturation, and more.

The effect of Google Photos Auto Enhance is subtle yet impactful and the image processing will automatically happen in the background, so the user doesn’t need to worry about missing the moment.

On top of it, Motorola smartphones use Google Photos as the native application for all photos and videos, automatically organizing them so they’re searchable by the people, places, and things in them. This means users’ photos and memories are always easy to find and share.

With a price tag lower than any other foldable on the U.S. market, the new razr makes foldable technology accessible to a much broader audience. Plus, with new software that makes users find a better balance between their lifestyle and the way they use technology, unplugging is easier than ever.

With the introduction of the razr, Motorola is unveiling a new software experience called Moto Unplugged to help users take a break from their smartphone, removing distractions so they can be more present. Gen Z is already establishing its own rules for how, why, and when it engages with technology, especially smartphones. That’s why Motorola has created Moto Unplugged. An experience empowering users to take a step back and match their mobile experience with their mindset by allowing them to choose when and how they want to disconnect.

The setup is simple. Users choose essential apps and contacts they still want available. Then whenever they want to unplug, select a time frame and start a digital break. For example, if a user needs to focus during work hours, they could choose to access only their email or Microsoft Teams and not see any other app for a set timeframe. Or, for those looking to disconnect for some personal time, users can choose to limit which social media and messaging apps are accessible and which are temporarily blocked and enjoy a break for however long they choose. That means more quality time with friends & family, more time to focus on the work that matters now, and more time to balance your day-to-day life.

Whatever the motivation may be, Moto Unplugged helps users disconnect and break away from the distractions of their phone.

Iconic flip design with a versatile camera system

The new razr comes with a distinct and comfortable look-and-feel, combining CorningⓇ GorillaⓇ Glass and a premium vegan leather that’s easy to grip and open, while being soft to the touch. The device is available in a range of fun, trendsetting colors including Cherry Blossom, Sage Green, Vanilla Cream, and Summer Lilac.

With the new razr, users are able to stand the device on its own at multiple angles thanks to Flex View technology, which offers new ways to interact, capture, and create. Users can angle the device to easily view recipes while cooking, follow an exercise coach online, video chat with friends, and more. Or, use the device as a tripod and capture stunning images and videos with hands-free recording.

The new motorola razr also features the highest resolution sensors on any of our foldable devices for both front and rear camera systems. Capture crystal-clear photos and selfies in any light with a 64 MP main camera and OIS, or take everything from breathtaking wide-angle shots to extreme close-ups with a 13MP Ultrawide + Macro Vision lens. Plus, use the 32 MP front camera for high-quality video calls.

Immersive entertainment experience with unbelievable battery life

The razr is complete with a massive 6.9” pOLED display and up to 144Hz refresh rates for seamless scrolling, gaming, and switching between tasks. This device also features Dolby Atmos®, so users can enjoy a richer multidimensional audio experience that brings out more depth, clarity, and details from their favorite entertainment when enjoyed over the device’s two large stereo speakers or headphones. The new Spatial Sound by Moto also makes sound feel even more immersive and fills the space around the user whether they’re listening to music or watching their favorite movie.

To power this premium entertainment experience, Motorola has also included a long-lasting 4200 mAh battery, not to mention this device supports ultra-fast 30W TurboPower charging and wireless charging (chargers sold separately).

Availability

In the U.S., the new motorola razr 2023 will be available for pre-order on motorola.com and through select carriers and retailers on October 12. The device will be available for sale starting October 19 at T-Mobile, Metro by T-Mobile, AT&T, Xfinity Mobile, USCellular, Boost Infinite, Boost Mobile, and Consumer Cellular, with subsequent availability at Cricket Wireless online and in-stores on October 20. With its borderless curved edges, the new motorola edge fits perfectly in users’ hands. The contoured edges make it comfortable to hold, and the vegan leather back is soft, stylish, and easy to grip. Featuring a sandblasted aluminum frame and IP68¹ underwater protection, the new motorola edge comes ready for life’s adventures. And while it’s one of the thinnest in its class (7.64mm), the motorola edge packs in a powerful 50MP camera system with the widest aperture available in a smartphone for stunning shots.

The widest smartphone aperture for photos worth framing

Sharp and bright photos are guaranteed with the 50MP high-res camera system, which features 2.0µm Ultra Pixels to capture more light, instant all-pixel focus with 32x more focusing pixels² and OIS for stabilized shots, providing faster, more accurate low-light performance.
