The motorola edge 50 series is designed with an overall sense of harmony. With motorola edge 50 ultra users will experience Motorola’s most impressive camera system yet. An incredible array of high-resolution cameras deliver the flexibility to capture any type of composition and achieve detail-rich results in any lighting condition. This device features a 50MP main lens, 64MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and 100x Super Zoom to get even closer to a subject, 50MP ultrawide lens with macro vision, and a 50MP selfie camera with autofocus. The main lens also combines pixels into a larger 2.4µm ultra pixel size to absorb 20% more light for great performance at night. 

The advanced camera system of the edge 50 ultra utilizes the power of moto ai to deliver phenomenal performance enhancements in both photos and video. The new Photo Enhancement Engine makes it effortless to capture perfect photos with every shot. No personal expertise required, it uses AI to simultaneously apply settings from multiple shooting modes into one to deliver peak quality. The engine uses AI to finetune the image for optimal detail, clarity, highlights, shadows, color, and bokeh.

Plus, with the motorola edge 50 ultra, users have additional options for creating personalized device wallpaper images with moto ai. With Style Sync, they can extend their personal style to their device by capturing and uploading a picture of the pattern of their outfit to generate multiple unique images. We are also introducing a new feature that allows users to unleash their imagination by describing their desired image through a text prompt to generate stunning images.

The new motorola edge 50 ultra uses Ultra Wideband  (UWB), transforming the way users interact with devices near them. UWB is a fast, low-power radio protocol with enhanced security used to determine location with a pinpoint accuracy as close as 10-30cm. For example,  users can walk into different rooms of their home without needing to reconnect their devices or personalized settings all over again. With UWB, consumers will be able to find their family and friends in crowded areas with centimeter precision or even walking up to their vehicle and having it unlocked automatically. The motorola edge 50 ultra is future-proofed to take advantage of the world of UWB as it continues to evolve. 

To power all these experiences, the edge 50 ultra includes an ample 4500mAh battery with 125W TurboPowerTM charging — to deliver power for the day in just 4 minutes of charging.8,9 Plus, it’s equipped with 50W wireless charging capabilities10, so users can recharge quickly without the hassle of wires getting in the way. Users can even share their power with other devices with wireless power sharing.

Following the design aesthetic of Motorola’s flagship device, the motorola edge 50 pro is complete with beautifully contoured edges, a sandblasted aluminum frame, and either vegan leather or a special edition pearl finish handcrafted in Italy, making this device soft and smooth to the touch.  Along with being lightweight, it has IP68 underwater protection.3

With a 50MP high-resolution camera system, the edge 50 pro captures stunning photos and videos. The main camera features the widest aperture available in a smartphone (f/1.4), letting in 64% more light11 for better low-light performance and soft naturally-blurred. The 10MP 3x telephoto camera with optical image stabilization is a nice addition which is rarely included in its class of products. With this lens, users will see the scene clearly from 3x the distance with optical zoom, or use Super Zoom for 30x the distance. The moto buds+ are also compatible with Dolby Head Tracking5 when paired with the latest family of motorola edge Dolby Atmos powered smartphones that feature this latest innovation, such as the motorola edge 50 ultra and edge 50 pro. A newly designed interface, Hello UX, provides an intuitive and personalized user experience with customizable options, intuitive gestures, a safe environment for kids with Family Space, versatile connectivity, and comprehensive security settings via Moto Secure. These features collectively make the device an appealing choice for users seeking a smartphone that prioritizes ease of use, personalization, and security.

With motorola edge 50 ultra Hello UX continues to evolve, becoming more assistive with moto ai. Whether one is tech-savvy or a first-time smartphone owner, Hello UX makes it easy for users to navigate their device, find what they’re looking for, and do more in less time. They will be able to swipe up in the app tray to search for on-device apps, contacts, and settings—and, coming soon, users will be able to use the same search function to access even more information off their device with the help of web search and generative AI. 

Motorola is also committed to inclusion and smarter technology for all and continues to support endangered languages in the interface of its smartphones. In addition to Nheengatu (Amazon region) and Kaingang (south/southeast of Brazil), Cherokee (North America), Kuvi and Kangri (India) and Maori (New Zealand), Motorola and Lenovo Foundation are now introducing Ladin, an endangered language spoken in Italy,  Dolomites region (South of Tyrol) as part of the 90+ languages to use in Motorola smartphones. 

The motorola edge 50 family also arrives with Smart Connect, a new software application that integrates the Lenovo and Motorola ecosystems, creating a unified and seamless multi-device experience. Make calls, send texts, and share files effortlessly between Lenovo and Motorola devices, including laptop, tablets16 and smartphones. Users can also easily amplify everything displayed on their phones onto a bigger screen.17 For example, they can easily move games, movies, TV shows, and apps from their phone to a TV17 or tablet for more space to work and play.

Availability

From this week on, the motorola edge 50 pro will be on sale across selected European markets, with a starting  MSRP of 699 euros, and selected Latin America markets, including Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Mexico.  The device will also roll out to Asia and Oceania.

The motorola edge 50 ultra will be on sale in the coming weeks with a starting MSRP of 999 euros. motorola edge 50 fusion will also be on sale in the coming weeks with a starting MSRP of 399 euros. The devices will be available across selected markets in Asia, Europe, Latin America and Oceania.

moto buds+ will be on sale starting from today with a MSRP of 149 euros in selected markets across Asia, Europe, Latin America, North America and Oceania. While moto buds will be available in the coming weeks with a starting MSRP 59 euros across selected markets.

Motorola releases special edition razr and edge devices, the first and only smartphones to launch in Pantone Color of the Year 2024

Motorola and Pantone, the global color authority, have teamed up for the third year to create devices in the Pantone Color of the Year. The Pantone Color of the Year 2024, PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz, reinforces the importance of human connection and so do the devices chosen to represent it – the motorola razr 40 ultra/motorola razr+ and motorola edge 40 neo. 

The Pantone Color of the Year, announced by the Pantone Color Institute, is an educational program reflecting on the symbolic nature of color. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Pantone Color of  the Year program with the chosen color PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz. A velvety gentle peach hue, PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz has a cozy, tender essence that embodies feelings of togetherness, community and collaboration.

Motorola is making photo editing effortless with Auto Enhance from Google Photos

Google Photos Auto Enhance is now available exclusively in the Motorola camera interface on the new motorola edge 40 neo, motorola edge 40, moto g84 5G and moto g84 5G

More than 93% of Motorola consumers effortlessly open the camera application and capture photos without any additional settings or post-capture editing. With that in mind, Motorola will add the Google Photos Auto Enhance algorithm into the camera software of the new motorola edge 40 neo, motorola edge 40, moto g84 5G and moto g54 5G.

Users can toggle the Auto Enhance option in the camera’s user interface to instantly enhance color and lighting after a photo is taken. Once applied, the AI-based algorithm adjusts the components of each photo, carefully analyzing the image and automatically improving white balance, exposure, highlights, shadows, contrast, saturation, and more.

The effect of Google Photos Auto Enhance is subtle yet impactful and the image processing will automatically happen in the background, so the user doesn’t need to worry about missing the moment.

On top of it, Motorola smartphones use Google Photos as the native application for all photos and videos, automatically organizing them so they’re searchable by the people, places, and things in them. This means users’ photos and memories are always easy to find and share.

With its borderless curved edges, the new motorola edge fits perfectly in users’ hands. The contoured edges make it comfortable to hold, and the vegan leather back is soft, stylish, and easy to grip. Featuring a sandblasted aluminum frame and IP681 underwater protection, the new motorola edge comes ready for life’s adventures.  And while it’s one of the thinnest in its class (7.64mm), the motorola edge packs in a powerful 50MP camera system with the widest aperture available in a smartphone for stunning shots. 

The widest smartphone aperture for photos worth framing 

Sharp and bright photos are guaranteed with the 50MP high-res camera system, which features 2.0µm Ultra Pixels to capture more light, instant all-pixel focus with 32x more focusing pixels2 and OIS for stabilized shots, providing faster, more accurate low-light performance. The new edge 40 neo offers an elegant, thin design and on-trend color options curated by PANTONE™1 and sports an IP68 rating, so you can be sure that your new smartphone can withstand dust, dirt and sand, along with submersion in 1.5 meters of fresh water for up to 30 minutes2. ThinkShield is a security platform – which enhances protection at every level from the factory to the phone – underlying fundamental security policies, features, specialized hardware, software and processes that aim to secure the entire device. Plus, the edge 40 business edition has 4 years of security updates to make sure it’s always up to date.

With moto edge 40 business edition, Motorola is introducing the latest and most advanced ThinkShield security feature ever, Real-time Kernel Protection (RKP). RKP is designed to provide business customers with enhanced device protection against threats and exploits used to target their devices. With the introduction of RKP, Motorola is further demonstrating its commitment to business customers by delivering features and solutions they require to help keep their devices and data protected, and their employees productive. RKP goes above and beyond current protections provided by Android’s kernel self-protections to provide one of the highest levels of security available. With moto edge 40 business edition, RKP is turned on right out of the box and there is no configuration needed.

For security and IT professionals, RKP helps protect against code attempting to exploit the kernel and critical system resources, including malicious device drivers. Knowing how important it is to capture these notable moments on the fly, Motorola is bringing new camera software updates to its portfolio.

Keeping photographers ahead of the curve, these new updates contribute to the exceptional triple high-res camera system on the motorola edge 40 pro. The main 50MP camera offers OIS, instant all-pixel focus, and large 2.0um ultra pixels that help capture photos that are crystal-clear in any light. The camera system also includes a 50MP ultrawide camera with Macro Vision, 60MP front camera with Quad Pixel technology and a 12MP telephoto portrait camera with 2x optical zoom, so that consumers can take breathtaking content of everything – from stunning landscapes to extreme closeups, and even more flattering shots of people.

The camera features and what they’re all about

From image quality enhancements to new capabilities, Motorola is releasing a combination of video and camera improvements across the entire camera system. Internal data revealed that 70% of videos recorded with Motorola smartphones are less than 60 seconds. So, to help users capture content that is both momentary and memorable, Motorola has introduced a new set of features to take videos to the next level:

– Horizon Lock Stabilization: Photographers can now use the new “Horizon Lock” feature to keep the footage stabilized and automatically locked onto the horizon, even while rotating up to a full 360°. This is great for action scenarios where there would be heavy camera movement like skateboarding, skiing or kayaking.

– Video Auto Focus Tracking: Users can enable this feature to keep their subject crystal-clear and in focus even when it’s in motion throughout the frame. For example, if recording a video of a child running around, and another person enters the scene, the focus will stay locked on the original subject.

– Video Portrait (bokeh): Consumers can take videos like a professional by creating a beautiful soft focus background behind their subject. This AI-based effect is ideal for users who want a singular subject as their focal point.

– Video Night Vision: When shooting videos in low-light environments, consumers can switch to Night Vision mode for video to capture brighter footage with more detail, better clarity, and more accurate color. The AI-based algorithm applies lighting techniques to low-light scenarios, increasing the overall brightness and decreasing noise at the same time.

– Vlog mode: Motorola’s Dual Capture feature has been enhanced even more for videos. Now, when users select the Vlog mode audio icon, the picture-in-picture window only appears when voice is detected from the front side. And when someone isn’t speaking, the window automatically disappears. This allows customers to easily add commentary while recording.

Additionally, consumers can expect brilliant images and videos when using certain social media applications, which now support secondary cameras like ultrawide and telephoto, as well as features like Dual Capture, directly within apps, if applicable.

1. Water, splash, and dust resistance were tested to IP68 standards under controlled laboratory conditions. Withstands immersion in up to 1.5 meters of fresh water for up to 30 minutes. Resistance will decrease as a result of normal wear. Not designed to work while submerged underwater. Do not expose to pressurized water, or liquids other than fresh water. Do not attempt to charge a wet phone. Not waterproof.

2. Available user storage is less due to many factors, including operating system, software, and functions utilizing part of this capacity; may change with software updates.

3. As compared to traditional phase detection auto focus.

4. Median users can get up to 12 hours of battery life in 6 minutes of charge. Battery must be substantially depleted; charging rate slows as charging progresses.

5. All battery life claims are approximate and based on the median user tested across a mixed use profile (which includes both usage and standby time) under optimal network conditions. Actual battery performance will vary and depends on many factors including signal strength, network, and device settings, temperature, battery condition, and usage patterns.

6. Ready For wireless connection is supported with TVs that support Android smartphone screen mirroring (Miracast) only. Ready For wired connection supported with TVs or monitors that have HDMI port or USB-C video-in port; Video-enabled USB-C cable or USB-C-to-HDMI adaptor required. Bluetooth® accessories sold separately.

7. Ready For PC is available on selected devices, and on Windows 10 and 11. Visit the FAQ page for a full list of device and software compatibility. Requires PC app download. PC and mobile device to connect wirelessly must share the same Wi-Fi AP (access point) OR must be connected via USB-C cord.
