Twenty years after the groundbreaking launch of the RAZR V3, Motorola continues to maintain its iconic essence and expand the boundaries of smartphone technology with each new iteration of the razr. The new 2024 motorola razr family is no exception, showcasing Motorola’s commitment to evolution and excellence. With the new motorola razr 50 ultra/motorola razr+ and motorola razr 50/motorola razr, we are introducing two stylish pocket-sized smartphones that bring the power of AI to more users’ hands.

Do it all with the largest, most intelligent external display in its class¹

Both members of the new razr family feature massive external displays with the motorola razr 50 ultra/motorola razr+ boasting the industry’s largest at 4.0,” and the motorola razr 50/motorola razr bringing a 3.6” display. Even more, for the first time, razr users will be able to access Google’s Gemini app² directly from their external display. Easily press and hold the power button to bring up Gemini, and get help building a road trip itinerary with popular sights and activities, creating a personalized workout routine in a matter of seconds, getting recipes based on what’s in the refrigerator, and much more. Plus, razr users will receive Gemini Advanced for 3 months with access to Google’s most capable AI models, at no extra cost. They’ll also get 2 TB of cloud storage and Gemini in their favorite Google apps like Gmail, Docs, and more—all included in the Google One AI Premium plan.

Also new to the external display is access to Google Photos, giving users the ability to share, view, delete, or favorite images and videos instantly. This is in addition to a dedicated Spotify panel that allows users to skip songs, and a Bose panel that allows you to more easily control your Bose earbuds and headphones.

When ready for a new look, Motorola is offering a new suite of clock faces and fun customization options for the external display. Users can change their Desk Display to feature a rotation of text and images they’re into that day, creating their own modern screensaver. Or they can shake it up with moto ai experiences. This includes Style Sync, which develops wallpaper options based on one’s outfit, and Magic Canvas, which generates a stunning image based on a text prompt.

Design choices that are bold, beautiful and undeniably razr

The new razr devices feature bold colors, soft vegan leather finishes, and contoured edges that look as good as they feel in hand. With the motorola razr 50 ultra/motorola razr+, consumers can pick between Midnight Blue, Spring Green, and Pantone™ Color of the Year 2024, Peach Fuzz. Plus, the iconic Hot Pink³ razr is back, giving consumers their daily dose of feel-good “newstalgia.”

Infusing color on the front and back of the device, the motorola razr 50/motorola razr features shades of Beach Sand, Koala Grey, and Spritz Orange in vegan leather.

The devices are also adventure-proof. Corning® Gorilla® Glass Victus helps protect the external display from drops and scratches, underwater protection allows the device to withstand submersion in 1.5 meters of water for up to 30 minutes⁴, and the simplified hinge offers better dust protection.

Thanks to the revamped hinge, it’s also easier to flick open or snap the device shut with one hand. This makes the razr ideal for dramatic hang ups or switching to the massive 6.9” pOLED display. A wide range of Flex View positions empowers users to snap their outfit of the day with the hands-free capture or record a beautiful skyline in shake-free camcorder mode that’s optimized for social media. For impromptu photoshoots, Photo Booth is now available on the external and internal cameras, stitching together four photos in a ready-to-share collage.

Cameras that harness the “wow factor”

The new motorola razr 50 ultra/motorola razr+ comes with Motorola’s best razr camera technology yet, featuring a 50MP high-res, main camera system with moto ai camera capabilities and Google Photos AI-powered editing features. With the 50MP telephoto lens, users can take advantage of the 2x optical zoom without losing image quality to capture stunning, flattering portraits that look great when standing up close or farther away.

Plus, this device offers a number of AI-powered camera features including:

Photo Enhancement Engine uses AI to simultaneously apply settings from multiple shooting modes into one to deliver stunning photos every time. The engine finetunes the image for optimal detail, clarity, highlights, shadows, color, and bokeh effects.
Adaptive Stabilization determines the speed of movement while filming and dynamically adjusts the stabilization level for the best results, ideally to capture videos while running or riding a bike.
Action Shot automatically increases and adjusts shutter speed and illumination based on different lighting conditions. This is ideal for moments when users want to capture the ideal jumping picture or capture their favorite sports.
Long Exposure for capturing artistic light trails or smooth waterfalls with a single tap.
Super zoom takes photos even further by enhancing the results through an AI-based machine learning algorithm, to capture details even when far away.

Optimized hardware and attentive software for non-stop fun

The motorola razr 50 ultra/motorola razr+ is one of the world’s first flip phones to come with the Snapdragon® 8s Gen 3 Mobile Platform. This allows consumers to discover what’s possible with AI through accelerated performance, unparalleled connectivity, fast-paced gameplay, and even better content capture.

When texting friends, consumers can utilize new features that amplify their conversations. Built into Google Messages, these enhancements include: Magic Compose⁵, which suggests texting responses in a variety of styles, so consumers can express themselves in new, creative ways, and Photomoji, which gives consumers the option to turn their favorite photos into personalized emoji or stickers.

To make the most of these features, the motorola razr 50 ultra/motorola razr+ is packed with a big 4000mAh battery that offers 5W reverse and 15W wireless charging capabilities⁶.

A device ecosystem that’s all about connection

With the new motorola razr family, Motorola is expanding the Moto ecosystem. In addition to the recently launched moto buds, Motorola is introducing moto tag – a small, accessory-friendly Bluetooth® LE tag with Ultra Wideband⁸ that helps consumers locate their most valuable possessions, from their wallet to luggage, through Google’s Find My Device network⁹.

Smart software that does all the thinking

Motorola’s distinctive software platform, Hello UX, offers an extensively personalized user experience, immersive capabilities, and an intuitive user interface. In addition to now offering more customizable options on the razr family external display, users will continue to enjoy advanced ecosystem connectivity with Smart Connect, a safe environment for kids with Family Space, the ability to disconnect with Moto Unplugged, and comprehensive security settings with Moto Secure.

With a simple prompt of “Catch me up,” users will receive a prioritized summary of personal communications, eliminating the need to sift through notifications.
Asking “Pay attention” will enable instant recording of conversations or speakers, automatically transcribing and summarizing them.
A command to “Remember this” will capture live moments or on-screen information, saving them automatically with AI-generated details. Information will be stored on the user’s device for easy recall later.

Additionally, users will be able to access moto ai anywhere on their phone for assistance, quick suggestions, and answers to questions, including device usage guidance or more complex inquiries using Gemini from Google Cloud.

Availability

In the United States, the new motorola razr+ 2024 will be available for pre-order at T-Mobile, AT&T and at motorola.com, Amazon.com, and Best Buy on July 10. The device will be on-sale at T-Mobile, AT&T and available universally unlocked at motorola.com, Amazon.com, and Best Buy on July 24 (MSRP: $999.99).*

In Canada, the new motorola razr+ 2024 will be available for pre-order at motorola.ca on July 10. The device will be on sale at select carriers and retailers on July 24 (MSRP: $1,299.99)*

The motorola razr 50 ultra will be on sale in Europe and select LATAM countries with a starting MSRP of €1,199.99 as of today. Stay in the moment with Moto Unplugged

With the introduction of Moto Unplugged, we’re empowering users to find balance in their digital lives. This feature, initially announced with the motorola razr 40/motorola razr, is now available on the razr 40 ultra/razr+. Moto Unplugged allows users to curate their digital experience by selecting permitted apps and notifications. They can even set a password to exit this distraction-free zone. When it’s time to disconnect, users can set a duration for their digital break, helping them stay in the moment without distractions.

Revamped user experiences on the external display

Our commitment to making life easier for our users extends to the external display. In this update, we’re taking the external display to the next level. Users can now rotate the phone, and the external display will seamlessly adapt to the current orientation*, much like the internal display. This means you can scroll through your favorite social media feeds or enjoy content from different angles without having to open the phone.

With this update, users can now have more than six panel shortcuts on the home screen to quickly access widgets and apps without swiping left or right.

Users can also quickly access the calendar by clicking the date underneath the time. And can easily toggle between other dates and “today.”

The news panel has a fresh look and now users can scroll down for more stories or tap on the story card for full details.

Motorola and Pantone, the global color authority, have teamed up for the third year to create devices in the Pantone Color of the Year. The Pantone Color of the Year 2024, PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz, reinforces the importance of human connection and so do the devices chosen to represent it – the motorola razr 40 ultra/motorola razr+ and motorola edge 40 neo.

The Pantone Color of the Year, announced by the Pantone Color Institute, is an educational program reflecting on the symbolic nature of color. Introducing Moto Unplugged, designed to help users stay in the moment while staying connected

Smartphones keep people connected to everything that matters and more, but sometimes users need to unplug and remove distractions. In recent years, Motorola has been tracking trends and has seen an increase in consumers, particularly younger consumers, that want to disconnect and have a healthier relationship with their phones. Research has shown that today’s solutions are unable to adequately help users disconnect, lack customization options, and are too easy to abandon.

Based on these insights, Motorola is introducing a new software experience called Moto Unplugged to help consumers take a break from the distractions of their phones. Moto Unplugged empowers people to take a step back and match their mobile experience with their mindset by allowing them to choose when and how they want to disconnect.

What makes Moto Unplugged standout is the ability to enter a special mode, allowing each user to tailor a break time to meet their individual needs. Setup is simple. The user can select permitted apps and notifications, as well as require a password to end their session. Then, when they are ready to unplug, select a time frame and start a digital break.

If a user needs to focus during work hours, they could choose to access only their email or Microsoft Teams and not see any other app for a set timeframe. Or, for those looking to disconnect for some personal time, users can choose to limit which social media and messaging apps are accessible and which are temporarily blocked and enjoy a break for however long they choose.

Moto Unplugged lets users create their own oasis without totally disconnecting, so they can relax and stay in control. That means more quality time with friends and family, more time to focus on the work that matters now, and more balance in users’ day-to-day life.

Moto Unplugged is available on motorola razr across North America. In the coming weeks it will be available to razr 40 Ultra/razr+ and razr 40 devices globally, and will be brought to additional devices in the future.

Iconic flip design with a versatile camera system

The new razr comes with a distinct and comfortable look-and-feel, combining CorningⓇ GorillaⓇ Glass and a premium vegan leather that’s easy to grip and open, while being soft to the touch. The device is available in a range of fun, trendsetting colors including Cherry Blossom, Sage Green, Vanilla Cream, and Summer Lilac.

With the new razr, users are able to stand the device on its own at multiple angles thanks to Flex View technology, which offers new ways to interact, capture, and create. Users can angle the device to easily view recipes while cooking, follow an exercise coach online, video chat with friends, and more. Or, use the device as a tripod and capture stunning images and videos with hands-free recording.

The new motorola razr also features the highest resolution sensors on any of our foldable devices for both front and rear camera systems. But regardless of how game-changing the innovation is, we also believe that it needs to serve a purpose, solve our consumers’ pain points and delight them with useful features. Here are a few of our favorite features on the new motorola razr 40 ultra/razr+.

We heard from consumers that they wanted more functionality from the external display, so we equipped razr 40 ultra/razr+ with the largest, most advanced external display on a modern flip smartphone*. Not only is it larger, but it also offers expanded capabilities for productivity, gaming, entertainment and personalization.

Users can watch their favorite shows and movies, take a selfie, or get directions using the large 3.6” 144Hz external display. They can also type a quick reply with a full built-in keyboard or use the dedicated Spotify panel to switch to custom playlists, select new stations and even see recommended artists and playlists, curated just for them. Plus, they can seamlessly continue whatever activities they’re doing on the internal display, on the external display once closed.

Customization is also among the top priorities for our consumers. That’s why we’ve equipped users with the option to choose from an assortment of colorful live wallpaper designs, moto clock styles, shortcuts for easy navigation, and panels so it’s arranged just the way you like it.

Now more than ever we’re seeing the value consumers place on the ability to quickly capture content. So when designing the razr ultra 40/ razr+, we made content creation a priority throughout each component.

With Flex View, the possibilities are endless. The ability to stand the phone on its own at multiple angles gives consumers built-in tripod capabilities on the go, and opens up new ways to interact, capture, and create. Plus with the high-quality cameras, AI face tracking, hands free recording, and previews on the large external display, users are able to more easily produce amazing social media content.

The motorola razr 40 ultra/ razr+ not only comes equipped with a powerful 12MP main camera sensor with Instant Dual Pixel PDAF for a faster, more accurate performance no matter the lighting conditions but also some brand new camera software features to match.

Thanks to the Flex View and high-quality cameras, it’s super simple to capture gorgeous selfies. With the Photo Booth feature, users can preview and capture four different poses in four perfectly timed pictures, all triggered by a simple open-palm gesture.

Users can also leverage the large external display as a mirror before taking a selfie with the high-quality cameras, which let users zoom in 3x closer than a standard lens to see every little detail.

Leading the family is the new motorola razr+/razr 40 ultra, which has a modern, ultra pocketable design – and is the thinnest flippable smartphone in the industry when flipped closed – and includes the powerful Snapdragon® 8+ Gen 1 Mobile Platform, efficient battery, and the largest external display of any flip phone.¹

With the new razr, users are able to stand the device on its own at multiple angles thanks to Flex View technology, which offers new ways to interact, capture, and create. Users can angle the device to easily view recipes while cooking, follow an exercise coach online, video chat with friends and more. Or, use the device as a tripod and capture stunning images and videos with hands-free recording, benefitting from the high-quality cameras, AI face tracking, and previews on the large external display.

When standing on its own, users can also frame the perfect shot and capture the perfect pose using gesture capture and auto-smile capture.² Motorola is also excited to introduce the ability for users to bring the fun of a photo booth anywhere. In addition to opening up new possibilities for content capture, we’ve also enhanced what’s possible on the external display so users can do more with the device flipped closed. Responding to messages, getting directions, and staying up to date has never been easier thanks to unique features like:

Panels: Custom panels allow users to prioritize what matters most. Swipe left or right to easily access games, Google News, weather, contacts, Spotify, and view notifications at a glance. Plus, an Apps panel gives you access to almost any app, like Google Maps or Google Wallet, right from the external display.
Customization: Users can choose from an assortment of colorful live wallpaper designs and a range of Moto clock styles. Customize and arrange the panels on their Home screen, dragging and dropping so they’re arranged to fit the needs of every unique razr user.
Game: Choose from a number of highly engaging games from Motorola and GameSnacks that work perfectly on the external display. Play through mysterious lands in Golf Adventures, help a feline friend escape to freedom in Tiger Run, or find your way to the finish in Marble Mayhem.
Dedicated Spotify Panel: Spotify users can control playback from the device’s external display. Without unfolding the device, users can tap to continue listening where they left off or start playing something brand new. Or if they are not feeling the current mood – users can tap to switch to a new personalized recommendation.

Users can enjoy all of these features on a 3.6” pOLED external display with refresh rates up to 144Hz, so scrolling through websites is seamless. Or users can prop open their device in Flex View to watch their favorite content with the highest resolution in its class⁷ and in a billion shades of true-to-life color.

Versatile Camera System: ideal for content creation

The razr+/razr 40 ultra was built with content creators in mind, and packs in a powerful 12MP main camera sensor using Instant Dual Pixel PDAF for a faster, more accurate performance no matter the lighting conditions. Capture photos with beautiful soft focus backgrounds thanks to a wide f/1.5 aperture that lets in more light to deliver photos with beautiful soft focus backgrounds, and OIS eliminates unwanted shakes so photos are always crystal clear. The external display allows for users to utilize the main camera for selfies, or to give friends a preview of their poses, so everyone’s happy with the picture. Users can also flip open razr+/razr 40 ultra and use the 32MP camera for selfies and video calls, or keep their hands free by folding the phone into the ideal view for the perfect selfie. Rounding out the cameras is a 13MP ultrawide + macro vision lens that allows for wide angle shots that fit 3X more into the frame than a standard lens.

Reimagined Iconic Flip Design

With the new razr+/razr 40 ultra , Motorola gives you an iconic piece of nostalgia in a modern, infinitely flexible design. Flipped closed, the phone folds completely in half, with the top and bottom edges aligning perfectly for a gapless, ultra-sleek look. Flip it open to reveal an ultra-smooth, gorgeous, full-sized pOLED display whenever you need it.

Motorola is excited to introduce a redesigned teardrop hinge with this new razr, comprised of the industry’s first dual-axis tracking that minimizes the size of the system. Compared to other foldables in the market, razr+/razr 40 ultra is the thinnest when flipped closed. Plus, this hinge system combined with Ultra Thin Glass makes the foldable nearly creaseless when the display unfolds, resulting in a seamless look and smooth feel.

The iconic design of the razr+/razr 40 ultra features a combination of glass frame with a matte finish or vegan leather on the back cover. Motorola is bringing bold color options to the new razr+/razr 40 ultra including the Pantone® Color of the Year 2023,³ Viva Magenta, a shade that is exclusive to Motorola devices, Infinite Black, and Glacier Blue. Powerful and empowering, Viva Magenta brings razr back to its roots with a modern feel.

Enhanced audio and powerful performance

The razr+/razr 40 ultra offers an enhanced audio experience with Dolby Atmos®. With Dolby Atmos, enjoy a richer multidimensional audio experience that brings out more depth, clarity, and details from your favorite entertainment when enjoyed over the device’s two large stereo speakers or headphones. The new Spatial Sound by Moto also makes sound feel even more immersive and fills the space around the user whether they’re listening to music or watching their favorite movie.

To fuel this powerhouse audio, razr+/razr 40 ultra is also equipped with the powerful Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, which fuels all the unique features of the device, while enabling performance boosts such as advanced AI, fast refresh rates, 5G connections and the professional-quality cameras featured on this device. Motorola has also included a long-lasting battery that is larger than the previous generation, and supports ultra-fast 30W TurboPower charging⁴ and wireless charging.⁵

The modern razr consumer is chasing a balanced smartphone experience, which is why Motorola is also introducing the motorola razr/razr 40. The device was made for trendsetters and tastemakers who like to stand out in a crowd, but also for digital minimalists who want to disconnect and take back control of their device.

The razr/razr 40 features the same incredibly smooth and vivid internal display, teardrop hinge and iconic form factor as the razr+/razr 40 ultra. While the most noticeable difference of the new razr/razr 40 is a smaller external display, it maintains all the features expected from a high end smartphone.

The new razr/razr 40 comes with a distinct and stylish look, combining Gorilla Glass and a premium vegan leather. It’s easy to grip, soft to the touch and comes with trendy colors selected in partnership with Pantone, such as: the Sage Green, a contemporary green tone, Vanilla Cream, a true off white classic and Summer Lilac, which is a mystical purple shade.

Motorola’s unique software experience
Both new razr devices run on Android 13 and come with unique Motorola experiences including: simple gestures, custom entertainment settings and/or ability to personalize according to each user’s style. Additionally, both devices offer an extensive suite of security features, including ThinkShield, Moto Secure, and Moto KeySafe.

Availability

In the U.S., the new motorola razr+ 2023 will be available for pre-order on motorola.com and through select carriers and retailers on June 16. The device will be available for sale at AT&T, T-Mobile, Spectrum Mobile, Google Fi Wireless and Optimum Mobile, as well as universally unlocked at Best Buy, Amazon.com and Motorola.com starting June 23 (MSRP: $999.99⁶).

In Canada, the new motorola razr+ 2023 will be available for pre-order through motorola.ca on June 16 (MSRP: $1,299.99). Starting June 23, the device will be available for sale at Motorola.ca and through select carriers and national retailers.
