Motorola announces open beta program for advanced moto ai features

Overview

  • Users of the new razr family and edge 50 ultra can now test advanced moto ai features with Motorola’s first open beta program
  • These advanced features will summarize their notifications, replace the need for notetaking and help users remember key insights, details and memories
  • Consumer feedback from this program will help influence and shape the future of moto ai

Artificial Intelligence aims to make peoples’ lives easier. For years, Motorola has used the technology to do the extra thinking for consumers such as enhancing image quality or optimizing battery and display performance. However, the modern smartphone experience is due for a transformative shift, and generative AI is leading the way—creating richer, more personalized interactions.

Understanding that smartphone users want to recall details faster and easier, Motorola is addressing this pain point directly with moto ai. It simplifies daily smartphone interaction by placing users at the center as moto ai is fully baked throughout the entire device experience.

It helps users better capture the world around them through intelligent photography and tools that help document memories. It also gives them new ways to create custom visuals and artwork and helps assist users, so they can accomplish more in less time. Earlier this year, these priorities were previewed with the edge 50 and razr 50 families, showing what’s possible with moto ai. Now, users can opt-in to experience these pillars in action with Motorola’s first open beta program, starting November 26.

Advanced moto ai features that are personal, collaborative and ever present

Accessible from anywhere with a simple double tap on the back of the device, consumers can discover new advanced moto ai features at their fingertips.

Catch me up prompt keeps users up to date, regardless of how long they’ve been away from their phone. This is because moto ai delivers a tailored summary of their most important messages. So, whether users are making a meal, enjoying some screen-free time, or connecting with a friend, users can simply ask moto ai to fill them in. This way, consumers can move forward with their day without needing to check missed notifications.

Pay attention command helps consumers stay present and focused during meetings and conversations, eliminating the need for notetaking. All users need to do is press record and moto ai handles the rest. It captures, transcribes, and summarizes key points for a quick review later. This ensures that details and logistics are ready when users need it.

Remember this prompt serves as an intelligent companion, capturing and saving key moments users want to look back on. With each photo or screenshot, moto ai enriches the memory with relevant insights, context, and meaningful facts stored privately in one’s Journal. Whenever users want to revisit or recall important details, such as a flight itinerary or product they want to buy, they can nudge moto ai to bring it all back.

Updated user experience for easy access to information

Whether users are searching their device, via the web or using a LLM, there’s a newly designed, easily accessible search bar that helps consumers find what they need—right when they need it. From there, users can search the Internet, locate apps, contacts, settings, and more. The app tray also features three intuitive tabs: Apps, News and Journal, so everything is stored in one place.

Plus, consumers can search using natural language through voice or text. This makes it even easier to get immediate assistance, quick suggestions, or answers to questions. Smart Actions can also streamline tasks, allowing users to instantly launch features like taking a selfie, scanning a document or turning on a hotspot with a single command.

Motorola’s first open beta program ushers in the future of moto ai

Motorola is launching its first open beta program to bring these features to users across the globe. This program will allow users to experience all that moto ai has to offer, share their feedback and influence the future of moto ai. These insights will help shape Moto experiences, ensuring that what’s developed meets consumer wants and needs.

Availability

The beta testing program will be available on the motorola razr 50 ultra/motorola razr+, motorola razr 50/motorola razr, and motorola edge 50 ultra starting November 26. Users of these devices will receive a notification to sign up, or they can visit motorola.com for registration details, updates and further information.

A new era of texting has begun: 3 Ways Apple’s RCS Adoption Changes The Texting Game

For years, Apple has relegated text messages with Android users to outdated SMS/MMS technology, leading to frustration for consumers, with the infamous “green bubble” often signaling a subpar experience for cross-platform communication. Now, in a significant move that’s set to reshape the messaging landscape, Apple is finally adopting Rich Communications Services (RCS), the modern messaging standard.

With the rollout of iOS 18, Android and iOS users can now experience more inclusive communications and enjoy high-quality media sharing and more seamless group chats. Apple’s adoption of RCS is a major milestone that benefits the entire smartphone industry, and it’s especially good news if you’re considering a switch from iOS to Android.

In fact, 20% of new motorola razr users have switched from iOS devices, demonstrating growing interest in the flippable form factor, innovative smartphone features, and stylish design. A more seamless messaging experience makes the transition easier than ever.

Whether you’re a current Android user or thinking about switching to a Motorola device, here’s what you need to know:

What’s improving

Apple adopting RCS enables key features like high quality media sharing, read receipts, typing indicators, and seamless group chat management, no matter your device. Android smartphone users have been able to use RCS features for years with Google Messages. Now, users will have the same benefits with cross-platform communications.

Why it matters:

  • A modern messaging experience for everyone. Both Android and iOS users will benefit from the improved communication experience enabled by RCS. Features like high-quality media sharing, read receipts, typing indicators, and easy group chat management make cross-platform conversations smoother and more enjoyable for all users.
  • A more inclusive digital environment: It shouldn’t matter whether you have the same device as your friends. By increasing the compatibility between messaging platforms, we ensure a more inclusive communication environment for everyone.
  • A step towards bridging the digital divide: Universal RCS adoption marks a significant step towards breaking down the digital divide and promoting equality in mobile communication. By eliminating many of the cross-platform messaging quirks that have contributed to the “green bubble” stigma, RCS helps to level the playing field and ensure that all users, regardless of their device, have access to the same advanced messaging features.

There’s More Work To Do

Though progress has been made with RCS, there’s still work to do. There are other RCS texting features that Apple can implement, like reactions to media, or in-line replies, to make conversations between iOS and Android users better for everyone.

In the meantime, celebrate green and blue bubbles becoming friends by making sure your friends with iPhones have the latest OS. Learn more on  Instagram, X, Facebook and LinkedIn, and explore more benefits of RCS on android.com.

Enjoy smarter, more personal messaging with Rich Communication Services

Google Messages on Motorola devices provides consumers with all of Google’s advanced messaging features. And with support for RCS (Rich Communication Services⁴), the modern texting standard, Google Messages is changing the way we connect. Taking personalization to the next level, Google Messages gives you the option to customize the bubble color and backgrounds of your conversation and the person you’re communicating with and film and send a selfie GIF, making each chat feel more unique. And with RCS enabled⁴, users will also benefit from high-quality image and video sharing, typing indicators, message delivered and read receipts as well as enhanced group chats when texting with iPhone users. Plus, Motorola and Lenovo users can take advantage of Smart Connect for an even more seamless cross-device experience.

Messaging is also becoming smarter, thanks to Google’s AI-powered tools that enable features like Gemini in Google Messages and Magic Compose.  When looking for suggestions or help with tasks like planning or finding gift ideas, users can chat with Gemini directly via Google Messages. Magic Compose offers users ways to craft stylized, suggested responses, for effortless communication. This allows for seamless sharing, collaboration and cloud back-up with automatic syncing.
